Got myself a design job....FINALLY! & other things

Fri Jul 25, 2008, 5:28 PM
Hello all. I have not been very active on here much that is because....
A) I just moved into a new place in Woolloware and have been going through the whole set up, buy essentials, etc. kind of thing.
B) I've been working anywhere beetween 30 and 38 hrs a week at woolies so that keeps me occupied.
C) I have been working on the art work for my fiance's debut album.

BTW go check out his page at: [link] the artwork on the page is a bit of a preview of the album artwork. I'm very proud of it all the actual package is some of my best work so far. Add him as a friend, the music is great, it's n instrumental album, but it's not just that it's partnered with his poetry, where every track has a poem to go along with it, it's a concept album, that traces the moods of a day the music is the soundtrack to that day while the poems hit topics of pointlessness, life, and the every day routine we all get stuck in. It's something different, it makes you think.

D) I have been working on the artwork for David Pendragon's album, which i s a muso from canberra, the album is by "Tribe - World Ensemble" titled "The Message Stick" It's the worlds very first album to be completely recorded over the internet, the musicians that played on the album have mostly never met and were fund through music forums etc. around the net. It's really interesting, there is going to be a documentary about it later on this year which is exciting, i'll be in it as well haha!

But now to the title of this bulletin!

After companies screwing me over, getting shortlisted for jobs and just missing out, being told i was too creative for a job ?!?! I have finally landed myself a junior design role in a company called "Stellar Inflight" We produce print pieces for airlines, our clients include virgin, i believe qantas was one, and a few international airlines, and we create the inflight entertainment magazines so my designs are now going to be flying around the world which is pretty exciting.
I had the interview yesterday morning (9am to 9:45am) then at 2:15pm i received a phone call offering me the position. They loved my portfolio and C.V. and i'm really excited. It's a great studio, really homely environment, it's nice and casual, not too corporate, and the starting wage isn't too bad. So yay! I graduated last week, and a week and a half later i start my 1st full time design job. I like the timing.
So woolies is now going behind the scenes, i'm working there one day a week every sunday, and saturday will be my only day off.

So yep. that is where i am at! I start at 8:30am monday, so goodbye to sleep in's (but i will welcome sleep ins on saturdays!)

Hope you are all doing well!
Riannon xoxo
